Hey, folks! Welcome to a truly special episode of The FASD Success Show. Today, we're paying tribute to an incredible soul, Alex Duthie. Alex wasn't just any moderator in our community; he was the heart and humor behind so much of what we do. Since 2019, Alex has been a steadfast presence, bringing laughter, warmth, and immense wisdom to us all. Sadly, Alex has passed away on February 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that we're here to celebrate in "Remembering Alex Duthie: A Beacon of Humor and Heart."
Alex’s journey was nothing short of inspiring. As a dad, caregiver, and the glue of our online community, he showed us the unmatched power of humor to lift spirits and the importance of creating a space where everyone feels seen and heard. His knack for finding a light in the darkest corners and weaving a sense of family among us has left an indelible mark.
In this episode you will hear some of Jeff's insights and thoughts on Alex's legacy:
The Power of Humor: Alex was a master at using humor as a beacon of hope. He had this incredible ability to ease the weight of the world, one laugh at a time, making our FASD journey a bit lighter and a lot more bearable.
Community Building: Alex was the architect of our community's spirit. Through his jokes, stories, and endless compassion, he crafted a place where laughter was our common language, and understanding was our shared mission.
Legacy of Love: The flood of messages and memories from all corners of our community and the globe speaks volumes. Alex touched lives far and wide, proving that sometimes, the people we meet online can become some of our most cherished friends.
Here are just a few of the tributes to our beloved Alex:
Suzanne Etzel reminisced about the joy Alex brought into our lives, while Alis Hobbs suggested we keep the tradition of sharing "corny dad jokes" in Alex's honor. Joy Meinders, Arlene Thomson, and many others shared heartfelt tributes, reflecting on the profound impact Alex had on us all. His legacy is a powerful reminder of the beauty in human connection and the strength found in community.
Remembering Alex is about more than just honoring a friend; it's about acknowledging the role that humor and heartfelt connections play in navigating the challenges of FASD. Alex's life and the way he supported his family and our community are a testament to the importance of cherishing every moment and the people who make our lives richer.

Inspired by Alex, let's continue to support each other with empathy, share a laugh even in the toughest times, and build a community where love and laughter reign supreme.
