Finally — Be Heard, Believed, and Backed at School

Nice Work.

You’re one step closer to transforming your loved one's school experience! Get ready to empower yourself and your child's teachers with the knowledge and tools they need.

  Step One:

Watch this short training.

Jeff walks you through what Understanding Me is, why it works, and how to use it with school teams.

Note: The video shows the 2024 version; the 2025 guide has the same content in a cleaner, more caregiver-friendly order. Everything still matches—just follow along.

  Step Two:

Download and Customize Your Guide

Grab the fillable PDF, add your child’s strengths, needs, and supports, and you’re ready to share it.

  Step Three:

Share with Educators

Once you’ve filled in your Understanding Me guide, the next step is to make sure the people around your child/loved one understand what’s inside.

You don’t have to explain everything yourself—let the resources (down below) do the talking.

  • Choose what to send – you can share all of the resources, or just pick 1–2 that feel most useful for your situation.

  • Think about your audience – a homeroom teacher might appreciate the “Classroom Tips” video, while a principal or resource teacher may prefer a podcast episode about IEPs.

  • Make it easy – email the PDF with a quick note and add the video or podcast link. This way, educators can learn on their own time and come prepared to support your child/loved one.

 YouTube Videos

Quick, visual, and easy to share. These short videos are designed with busy educators in mind—they can be watched in just a few minutes and offer practical insight into FASD and classroom support.

Tip: Send one (or both) to teachers to give them a clear picture of what your child needs, without overwhelming them with too much information at once.

 Podcast Episodes

Sometimes a little more depth is helpful. These episodes of the FASD Success Show go beyond the basics, offering real stories, tips, and strategies that educators and school staff can relate to.

Tip: Share one episode that feels most relevant, or provide a few options so your child’s support team can choose what works for them. Podcasts are easy to listen to on the go, which makes them great for busy staff.
